Carlos Richardson is an author and illustrator originally from the Midwest, who began creating children’s books as a creative way to share his passion for storytelling and illustration.
Raised on a farm in Wisconsin and later educated in the deserts of Arizona, Carlos possesses a diverse background that ranges from designing baby products and Alaska commercial fishing, to volunteer missionary work and turning wrenches on an engine.
He finds joy in running, the outdoors, anything with wheels, animals, simplicity, and connecting with people in meaningful ways.
Each of his books has a unique origin story—a story in itself. But that’s for another time.
Whether he’s developing characters, doodling ideas, or sketching a logo, Carlos always starts with a pen. Every book he creates features both his own writing and original artwork.Carlos works in a variety of mediums to bring his books to life, including (but not limited to):
